The Botanist Gin is a delectable, artisanal gin that’s conceived, distilled and hand-crafted at Bruichladdich Distillery on the Scottish island of Islay. First introduced in 2011, it’s one of the 2 gins made on the island and uses an incredible 22 foraged island botanicals.
Their professional forager, James Donaldson, hand-picks each botanical throughout spring, summer and autumn. So you can be sure that every drink will be full of flavour and offer mouth-watering aromas too.
Once the botanicals have been picked, they are then dried carefully before being slowly distilled with pure Islay spring water. This results in a gin that speaks of the locality and seasonality of Islay.
About Bruichladdich Whisky Distillery
The Bruichladdich distillery found on the southwestern tip of Islay is one of only two distilleries in the world to be awarded B-Corp status (and the only distillery in Europe). To be B-Corp certified is a recognition as a FORCE FOR GOOD; protecting the planet, empowering people and growing with purpose. The multi award-winning The Botanist Gin and The Classic Laddie are testaments to the fact that great spirits can be made in harmony with, and a focus on, improving the overall environment.
Built in 1881 by the Harvey brothers, Bruichladdich Distillery (pronounced ‘Brook-Laddie), is one of Scotland’s most innovative and experimental distilleries. With 30 acres of nearby farmland, more than 40% of Bruichladdich’s malting barley is now produced on the island itself. They also offer tours around the distillery and tastings for any and all whisky enthusiasts.
Bruichladdich Distillery is extremely well-known for crafting 4 different but delightful spirits. Their signature Bruichladdich whisky is an unpeated Islay single malt with a distinctly sweet, honeyed and floral flavour. If you’d prefer a heavily peated single malt whisky, then Port Charlotte will be the one for you, which has been malted to 40PPM. Or, if you’re an experienced whisky drinker, try Octomore, which boasts a PPM level of 80+ - making it the world's most heavily peated Scotch whisky.
